URL Encoder and Decoder

Web addresses (URLs) can only contain a specific set of safe characters. If your link contains spaces, accents, or special symbols, you must 'encode' them. Our free tool securely converts text into a URL-friendly format and vice versa (decodes).

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Why is a space converted to %20?
The internet protocol (HTTP) does not allow blank spaces within web addresses. When a URL is encoded, a space is replaced with the safe code '%20' so the browser and server know how to interpret it correctly.
What is the difference between URI and URL encoding?
Our tool uses 'encodeURIComponent', meaning it will also encode special characters like '&', '=', and '?' that could break link functionality if used within a parameter itself.
